Prestigious London law firm, who provide comprehensive legal advice to a wide range of businesses and private individuals, are looking for a risk and compliance paralegal to assist with the firm’s risk management strategy and compliance with all relevant professional, statutory and regulatory requirements.
The main responsibilities of the role will be dealing with Anti-Money Laundering, Lexcel and general risk management. A selection of duties are listed but this list is not exhaustive and you will be required to take on other tasks as and when necessary: risk profiling of clients and matters, identifying where enhanced client due diligence and on-going monitoring is required and taking appropriate action; completing e-ID, global sanctions and media checks and interpreting results; advising fee-earners on client due diligence requirements and the Money Laundering Regulations 2007 including the related Law Society Practice Note; liaising with accounts re AML issues e.g. third party payors; preparing for the annual Lexcel assessment; managing Lexcel process of evaluating experts and maintaining the database; reviewing and updating the firm’s risk management policies and procedures; conducting ad-hoc research in all areas of risk management; and checking the conflict database for additions to global sanctions and other restrictive regimes e.g. restrictions placed on foreign assets/persons.
It is essential that you have at least one years’ experience of risk and compliance in the legal sector and have confident communication skills. You must also be able to demonstrate excellent attention to details and the ability to prioritise a busy workload.
