Successful and aspirational City based commercial law firm are looking for an entrepreneurial practice manager to take over the administration of the practice and be a key member of the firm’s management team. The remit will include risk and compliance, HR and recruitment, marketing, facilities, practice administration and IT. The firm are looking for a candidate with a general practice management background; if you have experience in some of the areas above but not all, the senior partner will still consider this and provide training on the areas you haven’t covered.

The successful practice manager will be responsible for the smooth running of the office. A selection of key duties:

  • Recruitment of all new staff to include the interview process, contracts, reference checking and onboarding
  • Maintaining all personnel records
  • Implementing learning and development plans
  • Organising appraisals
  • Main contact with SRA and assisting the COLP with a range of tasks including compliance with SRA standards and regulations etc.
  • Supplier management and procurement: reviewing and negotiating third party contract terms
  • Responsible for the maintenance and smooth running of all internal IT systems, managing third party suppliers of IT and telecoms services as well as the timely updating of all IT and internal systems.
  • Managing Practising Certificate renewals and company insurance policies
  • Health and safety training
  • Ensuring the firm’s policies are compliant with data protection laws and confidentiality

It is essential that you have management experience from another law firm; this could be as a generalist practice manager, or if you have worked in HR management, compliance management etc. and are now looking for a change, this will be considered as well. What is essential is having an entrepreneurial attitude and the desire to make a very positive difference to an aspiring small business and the willingness to assist with their growth plans. You must be dynamic, proactive and strategically minded, and able to bring new ideas to the table.
